Deep tissue massage in Salt Lake City is our signature service and the reason for our name. It uses slow strokes and sustained, firm pressure to reach the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It's a good fit for chronic tightness, stubborn knots, and people who find typical spa massages too light.
At Salt Lake Deep Tissue Massage, every deep tissue session is customized. Timi Burke, a Utah Licensed Massage Therapist, starts with a conversation about where you feel restricted, what activities load those areas, and what you want to feel when you leave. Then she works into the tissue gradually—never forcing—checking pressure as she goes.
Who Deep Tissue Massage Helps
- Athletes and weekend warriors with tight hips, low backs, or shoulders
- Desk workers whose neck, upper back, and shoulders carry daily tension
- Golfers and skiers who feel their sport in the same spots week after week
- Anyone recovering from a period of inactivity or returning to training
- People who have tried massage before and left feeling like “it was nice, but nothing really changed”
What to Expect
You'll undress to your comfort level and be professionally draped. Only the area being worked is uncovered. Pressure should feel intense in tight spots—a “good hurt”—but never sharp or unbearable. Speak up at any time and Timi will adjust. The table is heated for comfort [CONFIRM: heated table].
After deep work it's normal to feel mildly sore for a day or two, similar to after a good workout. Hydrate, move gently, and notice how you feel over the next 48 hours.
Related Services
Many clients combine deep tissue with sports massage techniques or myofascial release depending on the day. For back and neck focus, see our massage for back pain page. Prefer a less intense full-body session? Try therapeutic massage.
